Outreach and Training

Annual get-together

In previous years Age Uk have co-ordinated a national Falls Awareness day. Here in Hackney, we still hold an event in partnership with Homerton University Hospital inviting you to try out new things, listen, learn, share experiences and enjoy some food and drink. It is a chance for you to:

  • share any anxieties with sympathetic professionals
  • try out new types of exercise
  • learn more about good nutrition
  • swap experiences, good and bad
  • check out basic aspects of your health
  • discover local services that might be of help to you

Get up, Stand up – information guide

We have a handy-sized booklet crammed with practical tips to help you stay steady and reduce your risk of falling.

It includes lots of useful phone numbers and website addresses, too. A useful little reference guide to keep on your telephone table, bedside table or on top of the fridge.

Call us on 0330 380 1013 to order a free copy.

Training

We organise training and education for a variety of volunteer helpers and care staff who work with older adults and those with disability to improve their understanding of falls, if you would like further information please call us on 0330 380 1013.
