Peer Support Services

Information and Peer Support

We run projects to help older people in Hackney access information about issues that matter to them and share their experiences with others.

We currently have two projects that are operating across Hackney. To find out more or get involved, please email us at or phone us on 0330 380 1013.

Community information events and peer support

This project aims to create a conversation around issues relevant for older people. Our community information events bring together speakers from the local Council and voluntary sector to provide information on topics such as housing, social care and local social activities for older people.

Participants have the opportunity to ask questions and share their own experiences with each other so that others can learn.

Through providing information and peer support, we hope to build the knowledge and confidence of older people so they know where they can go for advice, support or good company.

See the News & Views page for details of our upcoming community information events.

We are seeking some community information champions to support this project – please contact us if you would like to get involved.

Social activities for older men

We are also running a project for older men (over 50) who are interested in meeting other older men in their community, particularly men who have experienced a big change in their life.

We will be working with groups of older men to plan regular social activities in four areas of Hackney: Kings Park/Hackney Wick, Manor House/Woodberry Down, Springfield/Lea Bridge and Victoria/Homerton.

The social activities we provide will depend on what the groups tell us they want to do, but could involve things like dominoes clubs, film nights or trips to football matches, for example. To get involved, or let us know about someone who may be interested, please get in touch.
