Vacancy: Community Advice Worker

Side by Side is an advice service that is embedded in Gillett Square in Dalston, Hackney. Over several years, our advice workers have been carrying out regular street outreach to meet vulnerable individuals, build trust, and help people access their entitlements. We help people claim benefits, challenge decisions, avoid homelessness and rough sleeping, and deal with issues which are important to them.

We’re looking for a Community Advice Worker to join the team. You should have a strong sense of social justice and be able to work together with people who have been marginalised and excluded due to trauma, racism and poverty. You will need to have previous experience of advice work and knowledge of welfare benefits and housing regulations. Most importantly, you will need to have a kind, empathetic and non-judgemental approach. Please see the job description and person specification for more details.

The Community Advice Worker role is 4 days per week (0.8 FTE) at £30,000 pro rata per annum on a permanent contract.

If you’d like to find out more about the role and meet with Side by Side staff before you apply, we really encourage you to get in touch. Please email jobs@mrsindependentliving.org or phone us on 0330 380 1013.

To apply for the role, please download the job application form and send a completed copy to jobs@mrsindependentliving.org by 31 March 2024.
